Excellent text. When people can’t even agree on objective facts and reality, you know you’re in deep trouble. Agreeing on facts and reality allows you then to fight over values (more or less taxes and centralised healthcare and education or not, etc). But when you have one group in a delirium of insane «Parallel facts and reality», things are difficult to bring back to something resembling pertinent and healthy social debate in a democracy. Things have gone very far down the rabbit hole in your country (I am Canadian).

The only thing that makes me a bit optimistic is that general support for GOP is low and trending down, and will keep going that way due to demographics of age and ethnicity. There may be a «hard core» of GOP supporters in your country, but the overall picture is clear: they have a losing hand in the long run…
